It was a post valentine treat for all dog lovers last February 15 when SM Pampanga Building 4 became the venue for a “Dog Fashion Show”.  Organized by Kitty Pangilinan of “Tots That Count” Party Needs, the event was able to gather more than 20 dogs of different breeds and sizes.

 Being a pet owner, I was excited to bring my “baby” —a shih tzu named Porntip—to the event.  This is the first time for me t o participate in a pet show so I was full of enthusiasm. Since the event requires all dogs to be in costume, I asked my good friend, fashion accessory designer Cholo Ayuyao, to come up with a unique outfit for my Porntip. Cholo created an ornate, fully beaded silk brocade wrap with rhinestones and appliqués. Indeed, it was so fabulous, making Porntip look like royalty.

Pet-owners and enthusiasts started arriving at the venue as early as 11:00 AM. It was amazing to see different dogs in different colorful costumes.  

The show started with a parade of participants wherein all dogs in costume were presented to the audience with their owners. Then the cute dogs participated in different categories.  

Judging the event were Elfie Cordova, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a Professor from Tarlac College of Agriculture;  Caroline M. Reyes, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Co-Owner of Okidok Animal Clinic;  and Dog lover and owner Princess Justine Canlas.
